When Eli Manning injured his right shoulder last Sunday night in Dallas and went right back in to complete 4-of-4 passes including a perfect, 10-yard touchdown strike, his backup quarterback, Jared Lorenzen, was amazed by his toughness. Imagine, then, how amazed he's going to be today.
Because it looks like, just seven days after suffering a second-degree sprain of the AC joint in his right shoulder, Manning will take the field at some point in the Giants' home opener against the Green Bay Packers and might even start his 43rd consecutive game (including playoffs). His presence undoubtedly will be a huge lift to his teammates, still reeling from their opening-night loss to the Cowboys, and his display of toughness should ignite the Giants Stadium crowd.
