Eli, meet your new backup

QB David Carr has agreed to terms of a one-year deal with the Giants, according to a person familiar with the negotiations who is not authorized to speak for the Giants.

The deal, which Carr is signing now, is worth $1 million plus incentives. Carr will serve as the veteran backup to Eli Manning, and is aware he's not competing for the starting job, but he's happy about the chance to get his career back on track in a positive, post-Super Bowl championship environment, said a person familiar with Carr's thinking. He is also excited to work with Giants quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer, who was the Texans' offensive coordinator during Carr's first four seasons in Houston. (The Star Ledger)

Solid signing. He has some upside and, at the worst, will push the other 2 backups.

I'd like to see them go after T Spikes. That guy would be a good 1 year stopgap while working in Gerris.

I've always been scared of what would happen if Eli injured himself. Nice pick-up. So who's out, Lorenzon or Wright?

Terrible pickup, he is not only one of the worst starting QB's in the NFL, he was the worst back up last year...how is this suppose to help?

Maybe this will inspire Lorenzon to put down the turkey leg

Carr will be fine. Hopefully he doesn't have to take the field. Also you guys gotta remember Carr was playing behind some of the worst offensive lines in NFL history. Maybe he can build himself back up in New York.
