New contract? Brandon Jacobs is in no rush, cut talks with Giants for now
Brandon Jacobs is finished talking to the Giants about a new contract. From now on he plans to do all his negotiating on the field. The big running back Thursday said he has cut off all dealings with his team and plans to play out the final year of his pact. He said the Giants offered him an extension that he considered "OK," but he intends to prove to them that he's worth much more.
"I just wanted to be able to prove myself," Jacobs said after arriving at the University at Albany yesterday. "I see what guys are getting when they hit the market. And that's not what I was asking for. I was asking for half of what they got and half of the years. I thought that was fair. But I can't be the one to say what I think was fair and what's not. Now I've got a whole season to prove myself." Continue

Jacobs is still my number one back. He has power and speed. He averaged 5 yards a carry in 11 games. He sometimes frustrates me when he attempts to run through a tackler instead of avoiding a tackler and pick up another 10 yards. Bradshaw should beat out Ward as the second option. Bradshaw is pure lightning and has the ability to take it to the house on any play. He averaged 8 yards per carry but only played in the last three games last year. So its power and speed against speed and quickness. I'm going with the power and speed. The combo of these two backs will give the best defense nightmares. But more credit should go to the Giants offensive line.
