The Giants might be in the market for a new kicker. Lawrence Tynes, out of commission since Aug. 9 when he came down wrong on his left leg, will have exploratory surgery today on his left knee, according to a team source. If the results are not positive, Tynes could be done for the season.
That would put the Giants in a bind. Tynes - after two missed field goals ultimately a hero in the NFC Championship Game with his 47-yarder at frigid Lambeau Field - was the only kicker in camp and this offseason signed a five-year, $7 million contract extension. When he hurt his knee the Giants summoned Josh Huston, who was in camp a year ago and made 3 of 4 field goals in the preseason before the club decided to go with Tynes. Continue
