As Barry Cofield walked back to the Giants' huddle during the Browns' second drive of Monday's game, the defensive tackle could tell right away that Antonio Pierce wasn't on the field. "It was different," Cofield said Friday. "You are used to hearing AP's voice yelling and screaming. You get so used to his antics and they excite you. They give you energy."
Looks as if Cofield and his defensive mates might have to look elsewhere for a little pick-me-up come Sunday against the 49ers. Pierce, battling a quadriceps injury, hasn't practiced all week and is officially listed as questionable. All signs Friday pointed to the Giants' defensive captain sitting out, with Chase Blackburn stepping into his middle linebacker spot. Continue
